Nokia has announced the launch of two new low end smartphones in the form of the Nokia X2 (X2-01) and the Nokia C2 (C2-01). The X2-01 will be available for around £70.00 GBP and the C2-01 for around £60.00 GBP, before taxes and subsidies. Hit the jump to find out more.
The Nokia X2 (X2-01) is designed for social networking and fast communications and comes with a 2.4″ screen and a VGA camera, however there is no WiFi support. With a full QWERTY keypad and the new Communities app pre-installed, updating your status has never been easier. The X2-01 also brings with it the usual Xseries swagger – one click access to music, FM Radio and the Ovi Music service, which for some regions will offer unlimited access to free music.
The Nokia X2 (X2-01) will be available this Quarter (Q4 2010) for around £70.00 GBP before taxes and subsidies.
The Nokia C2 (C2-01) is a classic feature phone and sports a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 2″ screen and will come with the Ovi Life Tools service in select markets. The C2-01also brings faster 3G data and can handle memory cards up to 16GB. Unlike the original Nokia C2, this is not a dual SIM device.
The Nokia C2 (C2-01) will be available in the new year (Q1 2011) for around £60.00 GBP before taxes and subsidies.

All Nokia Phones With A Glass Display To Feature Gorilla Glass
Earlier today three of Nokia’s leading designers hosted a Q&A session via Twitter, with special reference to the Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01. During this Q&A, Nokia’s Senior Design Manager for Smartphones tweeted that all Nokia phones with a glass display are Gorilla Glass. Hit the jump to find out more.
According to Niilo Alfthan, at Nokia, “All Nokia phones with glass displays are Gorilla Glass. But again, we select materials for the story we want to communicate.” Gorilla Glass is is an environmentally friendly alkali-aluminosilicate thin sheet glass designed specifically to function as a protective cover glass for high-end display devices such as notebook PCs, televisions and mobile phones. Gorilla glass is better able to survive the real-world events that most commonly cause glass failure. Check out the video demo below of just how strong Gorilla Glass can be.
